What looks more like a playful and innocent kid bike is actually Volkswagen’s answer to the low-emission urban transport solution. Named “bik.e”, it is an electric folding bike that folds into the size of a car’s spare tire and can be stowed exactly as such, in the car trunk. The “bik.e” was introduced at the recent China Auto Show 2010.
The bike has a range of 12.5 miles, and it’s designed to draw a charge from the car itself so you won’t need to worry about plugging it in. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on when you’ll be able to put one in your own trunk—one tire and zero kickstands will have to suffice for now.
